Hadeel Koza, a young poet from Alqoush the ancient town, he looks at the poetry art as a holy gift presented for the public interest truly and transparently. He writes in Syriac, his mother tongue language and in Arabic as well. Hadeel also organizes and presents artistic programs and events.
- Welcome Hadeel Koza, let’s start from poet; tell us about your r
ecent and first poetry book titled “La Tay’asi” (Don’t Give Up).
-- Welcome Mezalta, “La Tay’asi” is my first collection of poet and it consists of 22 verses of free poems, which expresses the dreams of a man who falls in love in his home ‘country’ and each verse speaks about our living facts.
- Your excellent act on stage during the monodrama “Shokhlapa” (Change), do you consider it as your first work regarding this area?
-- Yes, this was my first act to test my abilities and audience’s reaction and it was the key to a new road, which I will do my best in as it is a long way for me.
- Your work is greatly accomplished in the movie “Alam el-Maseeh” (The Passion of Christ). Would you tell us about it?
-- The first event was in 1999 where Saint Qardakh Church presented a play taken from Christ’s life. Thus, after ten years we found a chance to document our work in a more artistic and technical way by filming (Passion of Christ) in 2009.
- How did you implement the idea of “Alqoush Star”?
-- As I was younger I always wished to find help to develop and keep my talents, that is why I would like to help every one who’s got a talent in this area and “Alqoush Star” became a way to raise those talents but the most importantly was the audience reaction to this program that made us be proud of this step in our town.
- You also write hymns and you have worked with the artist Yousif Aziza “Baba Mqodsha” (Holly Father)?
-- I am honored to work with the artist and musician Yousif Aziza, whom composed, distributed and performed ten of my hymns in “Baba Mqodsha” album.
- You have of course faced difficulties, how did you overcome them?
-- We face difficulties in our lives in all means, we hurt sometimes and fall the other times, but without those difficulties we cannot enjoy the success and we should not let any difficulty to be an obstacle for us.
-Do you have new work to present?
- -- Yes, I have many works willing to accomplish, such as a new monodrama, romantic poetry album in Syriac language, national hymn album in Syriac as well.
